Initial research
Target Audience
The main target audience which I am aiming for are children aged between 8 to 13, as younger children are harder to target the audience of younger children, when trying to make a show about Mona the Vampire appealing. As the brief also states that the title sequence needs to be for a children television show, a choose a children's television show with an older target audience.
Questionnaire
The main piece of primary research which I am going to carry out is a questionnaire, this has been created on the online programme of survey monkey. Which is most commonly use in business to create surveys. Below shows a screen shot of myself putting in the questions for survey monkey.
Below shows the fully completed survey which is going to be asked to 20people to get a basic over view about what they think about Television shows and the already existing Mona the Vampire television show. This survey is made up of 8 basic questions.

Results
The results showed what the target audience for my television show of Mona the Vampire, what they thought of the current Mona the vampire title sequence. With also what they would like to see and what would appeal to the target audience, and what I could challenge and change to develop the already existing title sequence.
This was specific for children which is showed by asking what age the people were to prove that the people asked were children, with also what was the persons favourite television show out of Mona the Vampire, Suite life of Zac and Cody, Arthur and Other.
Graphs
What gender are you?
The first question asked was 'What gender are you?' This question was asked to see what gender everyone who answered the questionnaire was. This would show if the answers changed due to gender, if this questionnaire was carried out again. The results showed that 15 people out of the 20 that were asked were females.
How old are you?
This question was asked to see what is the age of the people who carried out the questionnaire who answered the questions. The questionnaire was only asked to 6 to 10 year olds as this is the target audience for Mona the Vampire, and the majority of the television shows on the CBBC Channel. The results show that 100% of people asked were aged 6 to 10 years old.
What is your favourite TV show?
The next question asked was 'What is your favourite TV show?' after carrying out research by looking at the CBBC channel and looking on the the internet at other similar television show with a similar target audience I have found that the most popular shows are Mona the Vampire and Arthur on CBBC and the Suite life of Zac and Cody on the Disney channel. The results show that 50% of people asked there favourite show is Mona the Vampire. Due to this result the main television show which I will re-brand and develop the title sequence for is Mona the Vampire. This is because out of the people asked it was the most popular therefore re-branding this show could work well to make it even more successful.
What is your favourite type of show?
The question 'What is your favourite type of show?' This question was asked to see when re-branding and creating a title sequence for Mona the Vampire, which new element could be brought to this children's television show. The question show what type of show the audience would like, the results were 75% prefer a cartoon style. However this could be difficult to create in a title sequence due to the lack of technology which is available to be, and lack of videoing and recording equipment.
What type of characters do you like?
If I was to introduce a new character to Mona the Vampire, this question would work well to see, 'What type of characters do you like?' This would also help me to see what type of characters I show focus on when developing the title sequence, as an already existing character might be in the Mona the Vampire cast which the audience may be drawn to but is not shown currently that much in the show. The results for this questions was that 50% of people asked like friendly characters, were as only 25% prefer evil and good characters.
Have you watched any of these shows before?
The sixth question asked was 'Have you watched any of these shows before?' This will give an impression of how many people out of everyone asked has watched and heard about current shows before which included Mona the Vampire, which is now the main focus of my research. The results show that 9 out of the 20 people asked have watched Mona the Vampire, were as 6 out of 20 people have watched Arthur before. This could mean that Mona the Vampire is on at a later time with a wider target audience, or that Mona the Vampire is a more popular show.
What would you prefer the end of Mona the Vampire title sequence?
The next question asked was 'What would you prefer at the end of Mona the Vampire title sequence?' This will give a specific view of what the audience wants at the end of the title sequence. As I have made an informed decision since Mona the Vampire is the most popular show out of the three shows which was asked to the audience. These questions are helping me to make decisions television show at the end of the title sequence.
What music would you prefer at the end of the Mona the Vampire title sequence?
The last question asked was 'What music would you prefer at the end of the Mona the Vampire title sequence?' This is another question asked to make an informed decision about my title sequence. The results shows that out of the 20 people asked that 50% would prefer spooky music throughout the title sequence. This would mostly be because Mona the Vampire, is about vampires therefore a scary, spooky music would suit this style and type of programme.

Focus group
The next piece of primary research which I am going to carry out is a focus group, this would be when I asked a group of people about Mona the Vampire and there thoughts. As the target audience is 6 to 10 year olds, I decided to ask a group of 3 parents to see what there views were on children's television and Moan the Vampire. This is mainly because that at the age of 6 to 10 years old that there parents would still mostly likely to the person who would turn on the television and to the channel and have the main say to what is the children are watching. The outline questions asked were;
- Would your children watch a already existing show that has been developed or a brand new show?
- How do you think your child would react if the show was completely changed apart from the name and the main character?
- Have you seen Mona the Vampire yourself?
- That the parents do mostly decided on what the children watch on television
- To develop an already existing children's television programme would be the best way to encourage children to watch the show, as they would be interest to see what has changed and been developed and challenged.
- The audience would already know about the characters, therefore would be easy to watch and pick up what is going on.
- In some of the parents opinions changing the show completing would not work, just changing aspects such as the location would work better. Such as if they went to a summer camp which the television how this could be set instead of a school.
- All of the parents that had been asked have already seen Mona the Vampire, some from there childhood, therefore most of the parents would be interested in what aspects would be changed and developed, as this would be like the parents re-living there childhood.
- However the parents asked, said that they would still want the main characters to be included, such as Mona, Lily and Charlie, as this is who the show is based around and upon.
Overall the target audience will be 6 to 10 years old children as this is who the Mona the Vampire target audience is already therefore, it would not make sense to try and find a new target audience for an already existing, successful show. I have chosen Moan the Vampire as 50% of people asked said that this would there favourite television show, therefore the most popular, with 9 out of the 20 people asked, have already seen this television programme. From carrying out the focus group, even the parents are supportive for aspects of Mona the Vampire to change such as the location, but would still want Mona, Lily and Charlie to be the main characters in the Mona the Vampire children's television show. The target audience for the title sequence and show, would also be the same for the DVD and magazine cover.
However the title sequence is only a small part of a title sequence is only a small part of the televisions how, when showing that something has been re-branded just in the title sequence could be difficult. Unless there is a dramatic change in the title sequence to show that the show itself has also changed. As many people are also not as interested in a change in television shows, unless they are completely gives the view that it many not ba a good idea to try and re-brand an already exisitng television show.

Achievements
I hope to achieve a successful title sequence which is challenges the conventions of the already existing title sequence sequence, which has been edited and made to a high standard. I also hope to achieve good quality and interesting ancillary tasks which include a magazine cover and DVD cover, which reflects the title sequence which I am going to create. Another achievement which I hope to achieve is for the new title sequence to appeal to the target audience, which makes them interested in the show and to continue watching it.
Chosen Topic
The topic I have chosen is a spooky topic of Mona the Vampire, as this show is about vampire and invisible creators which Mona, Lily and Charlie have to fight in every episode of the television series. I have approached this topic by trying to find title sequences of shows which are similar which are not as successful as they could be without not following the target audience of 6 to 10 year olds which I have chosen for this particular product. Although I have started to think about my title sequence as after looking at stop motion and discovering sand animation, instead of using normal sand I think I am going to try to use black sand as this give s a spooky more vampire dark, feel. As the already existing title sequence also only used bright colours such as oranges and purples.
Knowledge
From researching I have gained knowledge about title sequence which include, what should be included within a title sequence and the already exiting title sequences which exist on the market. I have also gained knowledge about different types of stop-motion, these range from sand animation and stop-motion using paper. However I still need to gain knowledge about Photoshop to help edit my photos. I have also gained knowledge about the Mona the Vampire series to be able to make my title sequence, from watching the Mona the Vampire episodes on television and watching clicks online, to under the format of he show and how the characters work together and interact. This research help greatly with my knowledge as the same target audience of 6 to 10 year olds is being used.

Subject and Interests
The main subject for the Mona the Vampire, television show is Mona herself, as the show is based around her and also follows Mona around in her everyday life. The themes used in Mona is fun as she goes on adventures with her friends. As I used to watch Mona the Vampire as a child, I also feel like I have a connection with the show as I have watched the show grow and become more, popular. As the television show is also still on television and being aired now this shows how successful this show is, and the growing popularly with new generations.
The show of Mona the Vampire, also is quite different from other children's television shows on television, as not many other shows are about made up creators which vary from epsiode to epsiode. The chloses thing on television which this children's show which this could be compared to is Doctor Who, which is aimed more at adults, teenagers and older children. Where as Mona the Vampire is aimed at younger children. The fact that these creators are also invisible to all other people other than Mona the Vampire and her two best friends Lily and Charlie is also an extra factor which younger children understand, which also appeals to them. This show is also animated which makes it a more child's friendly programme, which appeal to the target audience.

Research and visualising
Content Production
The production which I am going to carry out is going to be based on the original TV series of Mona the vampire which is shown on BBC and CBBC. After researching and looking at all other possible TV series I have gathered ideas and thoughts which can go towards and be input into, the final title sequence which I am going to create for Mona the Vampire.
The possible ideas for content for this 'Mona the Vampire production are;
- To make a wire bat which could also be a basic outline or an outline which has been filled in with papermashe or newspaper, then painted or covered with another material. I could then make the bat move along a background, to give this title sequence a 3D effect.
- Make a cat, as a cat features heavily in the the original 'Mona the Vampire,' title sequence, as this is Mona pet which lives at home with her and she takes some out with her.
- Her house, original shows all of her house at end, could all of the title sequence being exploring her house. Mona exploring her house walking around and other creatures jumping out at her.
- based at Mona's school and to include her school friends, class and teachers mostly with the title sequence cutting to the her house at the front door, with her mum and dad waving
- previous experiences, with fighting creators, this then makes the views guess, what creator is going to be fighting in the next episode, this could be a regularly occurring monster that they cant defeat
- working for someone specifically, could be a new twist, i.e like her parents
- Mona growing up and discovering she needs to meet monster
- Mona before the original series, therefore working backwards, could shown Mona growing up his starting off as a baby and then growing up to how old she is now in the title sequence
- introduces all of the characters in the park which they normally fight creators in, this could also be in the farmers film, which they also fight the creators on the show
- Have a coffin which the bat appears from, and then moves along the page, and changes into a cat or a person, which shows the creators element for the television show

Draft Ideas
After carrying out research I have thought of some basic draft ideas which include for the children target audience of 6 to 10 year olds;
- to use paint splashes in bright colours, like the original Mona the Vampire title sequence, such as oranges, purples, blues and some black darker tones.
- bright images of the original character of Mona the Vampire and Lily and Charlie her best friends, which the whole title sequence will be based around.
- interaction shown between Mona and all of the different characters, so it is like she is going on a journey thought a line of all her friends and cast members introducing them thought the audience.
- short but to a high quality and interesting title sequence, which would only be a few seconds long but would be highly editing of Mona maybe changing from Mona Parker, to her Mona the Vampire outfit.
- when using the sand animation idea to incorporate different colours such as a purple between the light and the black sand, to get the viewer interested not just in the normal title sequence but the sand animation idea, and the the used of different material such as the purple tissue paper.
Supporting Resources
I have used many supporting resources these vary from websites, such as youtube to watch Mona the Vampire, the CBBC Channel website and the Disney Channel website. These also include researching on Google to get images to sue thought my coursework. Other websites have also been used such as survey monkey, to create my questionnaire, and Microsoft excel to create the graphs which I have presented and annotated.
