What have you learned from your audience feedback?
Main Task
To create audience feedback I have carried out a questionnaire where 8 main questions were asked about what the consumer would want for the title sequence, DVD cover and magazine cover.
For the main task I have gained audience feed back I have for firstly the main task which was to create a title sequence for Mona the Vampire. After talking to consumer they thought it was a good idea for the colours used in the title sequence which was changed from bright colours to black and white was liked by 80% of the consumers asked. This is because the consumers asked also though the sand animation idea was good and would work well for the Mona the Vampire title sequence. Which meant that the title sequence would have to be in black and white unless this title sequence was edited.
As the target audience is 6 to 10 year olds this means that the consumers asked were at this age which would give a good representation as there answers will directly impact the title sequence.
Audience feedback has also helped to decide the type of music to use in the title sequence as the original song was happy after asking the target audience 60% of the consumers asked said that they would prefer a spooky upbeat song to go with the sand animation title sequence. This is because the sand animation is quite dark with only using the black and white colours therefore using an upbeat song with the dark title sequence, due to audience feedback. Below firstly shows the already existing title sequence and then a screen grab from the new sand animation Mona the Vampire title sequence.
Another factor which I have also learnt from the audience feedback is that the target audience thought the development of the content of the title sequence has worked well. As 85% of the consumers asked said that they preferred not to see the specific characters or the invisible creators which gives away what is going to happen in the episodes. However they prefer to see symbols that relate to the Mona the Vampire show, which include a bat, cat and coffin, this also gives a mystery around what the main character looks like.
Although after creating the title sequence audience feedback comments have showed that the title sequence was lacking creativity and also the first few seconds of the title sequence should of been more interesting. With using a more interesting font and effect to introduce the audience to the title sequence. Even though that length has increased from the original Mona the Vampire title sequence from 26 seconds to 40 seconds the content in the new Mona the Vampire title sequence is not as strong as the original title sequence, according to audience feedback.
DVD Cover
The first ancillary task which was carried out was to create a DVD cover, firstly from audience feedback I have learnt that could of used more images a more and also striking image could of been used was what 60% of the consumers said could be improved with the DVD cover.
Audience feedback has also shown that more detail should of been used on the front of the DVD cover and on the back of the DVD cover such as a pattern as used on the original DVD cover according to the audience feedback. Both the original and then the new Mona the Vampire DVD covers are shown below.
Magazine
The secondary ancillary task has also learned from audience feedback firstly 65% of consumers said that more information should of been put on the magazine cover, as at the moment it is very striking but does look very plain. Although the same 65% said that they thought that the symbols and images did work well but needed more editing and focus on these to make the symbols more interesting to he consumer.
Al thought the audience feedback did say that they like the use of the DVD cover on the magazine cover to promote the DVD. With also the image of Mona the Vampire also works well on the magazine cover according to 70% of the consumers asked.
