Evaluation: The Effectiveness

Friday 9th December

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks?

The effectiveness of the combination between both the main product and the ancillary tasks have worked well, this is because they all directly link and have influenced each other. I firstly created the title sequence which had the colour themes of black and white which was created by the black sand, used in the sand animation. Two images which make up the sand animation title sequence are shown below with how the black sand and white light from the light box of the sand animation works. The final Mona the Vampire title sequence sand animation is also shown below the two screen grabbed photos.

Both the title sequence and ancillary tasks have an effective combination by using the same images which have been taken from the sand animation, which make the DVD and magazine cover effective. As if the consumer has seen the title sequence they would then see how all of these products link up and are effective together as that same images are used. Which shows how the products together work well.

The ancillary tasks are directly link and both work effectively together as a combination as the same style has been used for both which includes the orange, black and white color themes which was decided because of the black and white sand animation created. Due to the images are taken from the sand animation which reflects the Mona the Vampire series directly. The smaller symbols taken from the title sequence also make all three products effective all they all directly link which the consumers will be able to pick up on which then makes all three products link automatically when the consumer sees each of these products. Which is shown in firstly the magazine cover shown below and then the DVD cover shown below.

Thought I was challenged to make a successful sand animation which would be effective and then be able to make two ancillary products which could show an effective combination different the three different products. The main problem was to practice the sand animation technique to make the sand animation as successful as possible with little knowledge on how to create a successful sand animation. A screen shot is shown below of a sand animation which I have researched from this blog which I have created.

However choosing sand animation was made as an informed decision after researching different styles. Such as stop motion animation which is shown below in the screen grab of one type of paper stop motion animation style I could have used. Although after looking at the stop motion paper style, I decided the sand animation would be more of a challenge and therefore more interesting to create a Mona the Vampire style sand animation.

However even more research was then carried out surrounding sand animation after choosing this as the style for the Mona the Vampire title sequence. Even more research was taken place to create experiments of the different sand animation ideas which could be used in the Mona the Vampire sand animation title sequence as shown below. The first basic example is shown below, which is a bat outlined and then 'Mona,' written in the black sand used. A close up screen grab is also shown below.

These three products should be successful together as they are unlike any other similar products on the market. As after carrying out research I have not seen any other children television title sequence, DVD and magazine covers which have used sand animation therefore showing how these products will be successful as there is no other products to compare them too.
